I'll be honest: when Cosmos showed up near a strange gate and asked me to 'go inside and assist with some kind of test,' I assumed I would be doing paperwork or maybe a personality quiz. Instead, I got tossed into a simulated field full of Tacet Discords, told to defend experimental devices, and wished 'fortune in the lucid world.' The worlds behind the gate supposedly intertwine in a tapestry of mystery, but I mostly saw a tapestry of glowing enemies who wanted to break my stuff. Very normal Tuesday, right? 😅

Since I am writing this in 2026, these are my archived notes from the event. The original run lasted from September 5 to September 26, 2024, server time. If you are reading this later and wondering where your unclaimed Astrite went, that is between you and your past self.

The entry requirement was Union Level 22. Honestly, if you were below that, the gate probably would have given you a polite cosmic shrug. The reward pool was generous enough to make me forgive all the defending I had to do.

The core loop was simple: enter the simulated field and defend the experimental devices until all Tacet Discords were defeated. While I sweated, Cosmos provided special Echoids to help the Resonators. I appreciate the support, Cosmos, but maybe next time provide a snack too.

Co-op was available in certain difficulties, which meant I could team up with other Rovers and defend together. My main contribution was emotional support and occasionally pressing buttons with unearned confidence.

As difficulty rose, I faced more waves of enemies and unlocked different Echoids. This was exciting until the sixth wave showed up and I remembered I am not a professional defender of anything except my own questionable life choices. 💀

One very important rule: you could only use designated Echoids in this mode. Sonatas remained effective, but the main Echo Skill was replaced. Yes, my lovingly built Echo skill was swapped for Cosmos's special mystery juice. It was like bringing a custom sandwich to a party and being told the host will supply the filling.

The scoring system was generous if you were stubborn. For each level, hitting the point requirement earned level rewards. You could re-challenge the same level to accumulate more points, and then claim point rewards as you reached total point requirements. In gamer terms: run it back, stack points, grab loot, repeat until your fingers hurt.

A few survival tips from my very scientific process:

  • Bring a friend. Co-op turns panic into shared panic.

  • Do not hoard unclaimed points; claim rewards as soon as you hit the target.

  • Remember your main Echo Skill is replaced, so stop trying to use it.

  • Re-challenge is normal. The first clear is just a warm-up bonk.

Unclaimed rewards had a safety net. If you forgot to claim something when the event ended, you could log in within 30 days afterward and receive those rewards via mail. This is the only reason I did not riot after realizing I had left a Premium Sealed Tube sitting there like a forgotten vegetable.

Overall, the event was a solid mix of tower-defense anxiety and Echo experimentation. I liked that co-op let me rely on a friend with better reflexes. I liked that the point system did not force perfection on the first clear. What I did not like was the sixth wave staring me down, but that is character development. The Astrite was great, but the real reward was discovering I can hold a defensive line for about eight seconds before panicking. 🛡️

Would I do it again? If Cosmos shows up near another gate and offers 500 Astrite, I will absolutely walk through it before asking questions. Some lessons are not learned.
